According to Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Nasir Ismail, the incident occurred on Dec 20 at about 8pm. It involved two customers and two restaurant employees.

He also said that the issue had been resolved amicably.

“All individuals involved have since presented themselves at the Taiping district police headquarters to assist in investigations.

“Both parties reached a mutual agreement to resolve the matter peacefully on the same day the incident occurred,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 24).

ACP Mohamad Nasir also said that another video showing the individuals shaking hands later went viral, and that both parties had lodged police reports confirming the misunderstanding had been settled amicably.

He urged the public not to spread the video or speculate on the incident, warning that such actions could cause unnecessary concern among residents.

“The public is advised to cooperate by channelling information through proper channels to help maintain public safety and harmony,” he said.
