However, there are claims that the Social Welfare Department issues "official" Malaysian senior citizen cards to make it easier for individuals to access these entitlements.

The Social Welfare Department has denied that it issues such a card for senior citizens.
It advised the public to remain vigilant and not to believe such claims and to obtain verified information through its official channels.
"Among the official channels are the department's official portal, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X page to ensure that the information received is true and up-to-date," read the statement on Wednesday (Dec 24).
It said any inquiries on its services offered or applications for assistance can be made via Talian Kasih 15999 or WhatsApp at 019-261 5999 which operate around the clock or by contacting the nearest Social Welfare Department office.
