The police are tracking down an Indonesian man believed to be the driver of a garbage truck that skidded and crashed into a concrete barrier at the Puchong South toll plaza along the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) on Friday (Oct 10).
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the driver allegedly fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving behind his injured assistant.
The driver of the garbage truck, travelling from Putrajaya towards Bukit Puchong, was believed to have lost control of the vehicle at about 2.30pm.
“As the vehicle approached the Puchong South Toll Plaza, the driver lost control before causing the vehicle to crash into the toll plaza’s concrete wall.
“The assistant, a 42-year-old Bangladeshi man, sustained head and facial injuries, while the driver is suspected to have fled,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 11).
Following the incident, ACP Wan Azlan said efforts are underway to locate the driver to assist in investigations under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
He urged anyone with information to contact Traffic Investigation Officer Insp Fatin Husna Khairuzzaman at 017-3012621.
Earlier, a 30-second video went viral on social media showing the garbage truck veering from the far-left lane towards the right before crashing into the concrete barrier in the middle of the toll plaza.
The truck narrowly missed hitting another car in the lane, as the car’s driver managed to stop in time.
