Did an elderly woman in her 80s get arrested after she was caught driving against traffic along the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH)?

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shamsudin Mamat said police detected a viral video on social media at about 1pm on Tuesday (May 19), showing the woman driving against traffic at KM10.8 of the highway.
“Initial investigations found that the incident occurred at about 9.30pm on Monday (May 18).
“The suspect is believed to have lost her way while travelling home and drove against traffic in an attempt to find an exit from the DASH highway,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 19).
ACP Shamsudin said no accident or collision involving the suspect’s vehicle and other road users or objects was reported.
He added that the woman has been detained and the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
Police also reminded road users to comply with traffic laws to avoid accidents and warned that stern action would be taken against those who flout road regulations.
Witnesses or those with information on the incident are urged to contact the investigating officer, Insp Jayseelan Supaya, at 018-258 2531 or the Petaling Jaya police headquarters at 03-7966 2222 to assist in the investigation.
