Verdict:

TRUE

The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry, through its Space Authority Division (BPAngkasa), confirmed it received reports of bright lights in Malaysian airspace over several areas on Wednesday night (Nov 4).

It said the sightings were linked to the re-entry of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory satellite.

"So far, there are no official reports on the discovery of any suspected space object debris, such as rockets, on land or in Malaysian waters," it said.

BPAngkasa is actively monitoring the situation in collaboration with relevant agencies.

The public is advised not to touch any suspicious objects and to report them immediately to the authorities, the 999 emergency line or BPAngkasa at 03-8885 8685 or bpadg@mosti.gov.my.
