A LOCAL bank's customers who tried to visit the bank's corporate website recently were met with access problems.
The disruption, which began on Nov 6, left some customers worried about what it meant for their accounts.
So, are Bank Rakyat customers' savings and data at risk after its website went down?
Verdict:

FALSE
No, Bank Rakyat has assured customers that their personal data, banking information and savings remain safe and unaffected.
In a statement on its Facebook page on Nov 7, the bank stressed that the ongoing disruption only affects its corporate website.
The problem was caused by a technical issue with the system of a third-party service provider, it said.
"We assure you that Bank Rakyat's banking systems and operations continue to function as usual, while customers' personal data, banking information and savings remain safe and unaffected," read the statement.
While access to the corporate website is being restored, customers can continue banking as usual through several alternative channels.
These include the iRakyat website, the iRakyat mobile app, BRICK, QR2E and the i-bizRAKYAT business banking portal.
"We apologise for the inconvenience experienced and appreciate your patience. Any further developments on this matter will be communicated from time to time," said the bank.
The safety and interests of customers will always be a priority for Bank Rakyat, it added.

Earlier this year, Bank Negara fined Bank Rakyat RM1mil for failing to meet cybersecurity requirements and to adequately safeguard customer information, as reported by The Star.
The breaches followed a cybersecurity incident in which an external threat actor gained unauthorised access to the bank's IT infrastructure.
Bank Rakyat has since taken measures to strengthen its cybersecurity and information and communications technology (ICT) controls, resources and governance.
