QuickCheck: Is the government distributing RM300 aid through MyKad?

AN announcement of government aid is always welcome, whether to assist those who have survived a natural disaster or tragedy, or simply to support those in need in getting back on their feet.

Recently, a post on social media claimed that the Madani government was distributing RM300 cash aid through MyKad.

Is this true?

Verdict:

FALSE

The National Registration Department clarified in a Facebook post that recent claims about cash assistance linked to MyKad are false. They said, "The National Registration Department (NRD) would like to inform the public about a viral link on social media concerning a cash assistance program supposedly credited to MyKad. This information is fake!"

“The public is advised to not be fooled by the post that has been circulated on social media and not to tap or click suspicious links,” the NRD said.
