QuickCheck: Is a government specialist hospital discontinuing free treatments?

In today's digital age, rumours can spread like wildfire, causing unnecessary panic. Recently, claims have gone viral online alleging that the National Heart Institute (IJN) is going to be privatised and free treatments discontinued.

Is this true?

Verdict:

FALSE

The Institute denied this in a post on its official Facebook account, saying that claims about IJN's privatization and discontinuation of free treatments are completely false.

“IJN remains committed to providing quality heart care for all patients, including Health Ministry-sponsored cases,” it added.

It then said that for any updates, the public can rely on the IJN website or its social media channels or by contacting the Institute directly.

“Help stop the spread of misinformation. For inquiries, contact 03-2617 8200 or heart@ijn.com.my,” it added.
