With viewers glued to their screens, the footage has sparked debates and discussions, leaving many to wonder whether the incident is genuine or just another digital fabrication. But is this viral video fact or fiction?

"The video of a man vandalising a car that went viral on Twitter was uploaded on Monday (Aug 19)," said Ipoh OCPD ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, adding that the incident in the video took place in the evening of Aug 14.

"A 23-year-old local man reported that his car, which was parked on the side of the road in Taman Wing Onn, Ipoh, Perak, had been struck and hit with a roof tile by another local man.

"Acting on information, police apprehended a 47-year-old local man on Aug 15, 2024," said ACP Abang Zainal Abidin.

The man, who holds a mental health OKU card, was taken into custody to assist with the investigation.

"A check revealed that the suspect had no prior criminal history," he added.

ACP Abang Zainal Abidin said the case was being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief and that the case file would be referred to the Perak state prosecutor for potential charges.

"We urge the public not to take matters into their own hands or spread unverified information about the incident," he said.
