THE tradition of folks pining for love to throw oranges into the sea during Chap Goh Meh started in Malaysia.
Is this true?
Verdict:

TRUE
Although many assume that the tradition started in China, the tradition of eligible young ladies lobbing citrus fruit into bodies of water to find love actually has its roots here.
By some accounts, the practice started in Penang in the 19th century though now the tradition has spread around the country.
In fact, there are five places you can go to toss mandarins for love, namely; Padang Kota Lama, Penang; Taman Jaya Lake in Petaling Jaya, Selangor; Kwan Yin Tong in Ipoh, Perak; Jetty Bastion Middlebourgh in Malacca; and India Street in Kuching, Sarawak.
So if you are feeling lonely, why not scribble your details in an orange and head down to one of these spots to give it a throw.
Actually, maybe don't put your phone number on the orange. Just stick to your Twitter handle, IG account or whichever social media platform you use that lets you screen out the weirdos.
