A VIDEO uploaded to TikTok, that is also being shared on WhatsApp, claims to show a suicide attempt at the Penang Bridge.
Did someone really leap off as depicted in the video?
The Penang Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) confirmed that it received calls from the public about the incident, which happened at KM3.4 of the George Town-bound lane of the bridge at about 3:45pm on Tuesday (Nov 30).
Penang MMEA director Capt Abd Razak Mohamed said that a search-and-rescue operation was immediately organised, and the man - who was rescued by local fishermen - was handed over to the MMEA vessel in an unconscious state.
He was brought to the Batu Uban jetty, and then to the Penang Hospital for further treatment.
