Myanmar confirms 28th case

A 63-year-old man who had close contact with the eighth confirmed patient tested positive for Covid-19, taking the number of confirmed cases to 28, according to a statement by the Health and Sports Ministry.

The 28th patient living in Bahan Township is a family member of the eighth patient. Due to the close contact with the confirmed patient, he had been placed under home quarantine since March 28.

On Tuesday, he started suffering from sore throat and cough. The man’s samples were taken for testing on Thursday and was tested positive for Covid-19.

The patient also suffers from hypertension and diabetes. He will be sent to the intensive care unit of Waibargi Specialist Hospital.

Fifty-one suspected cases had been placed under observation from Thursday to Friday.
