KUCHING: The final edition of Star Karnival Cuti-Cuti Malaysia (SKCCM) has kicked off here, offering visitors attractive holiday promotions and a wide selection of domestic travel packages.

Organised by Tourism Malaysia in collaboration with Star Media Group (SMG), the three-day event at Plaza Merdeka here aims to encourage Malaysians to discover the country’s diverse tourism offerings while providing a platform for tourism industry players to connect directly with consumers.

Tourism Malaysia domestic and events division senior director Mohd Roslan Abdullah said the carnival demonstrated the value of strong industry collaboration in promoting domestic tourism.

“SKCCM 2026 has received an encouraging response, with the first five stops recording 240,000 visitors against an initial target of 200,000, while total sales reached RM3.5mil, more than doubling the initial target of RM1mil.

"This demonstrates the value of connecting tourism businesses directly with consumers," he said when launching the event on Saturday (Oct 31).
