A COURAGEOUS stray dog stepped in to separate two adult elephants locked in a fight, Makkal Osai reported.
The incident occurred in Hassan district in India’s Karnataka state, where forest elephants have increasingly ventured into residential areas in search of food and water.
Several days ago, two herds of elephants were roaming around Jagaboranahalli village when an adult elephant began clashing with a leader from the other herd.
The trumpeting and roaring of the elephants drew the attention of nearby residents and dogs.
While people and other animals kept their distance, one dog, believed to be a stray, approached the elephants and barked at them fearlessly, as if trying to break up the fight.
In an astonishing turn of events, the two elephants stopped fighting and went their separate ways into a nearby forest, leaving residents amazed by the dog’s bold intervention.
Videos of the incident have since gone viral on social media.
