Bersatu to use official party logo in Melaka polls, says party sec-gen

MELAKA: Bersatu will use its official party logo in the Melaka polls on Nov 14, says the party's secretary-general.

Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who is also Bersatu election director, said he had sent an official letter to the Election Commission (EC) last week to confirm the use of the logo in the 16th state election.

"We will use the Bersatu logo. I have written to the EC, and the use of the logo has been approved by our president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin," he told reporters here.

He was speaking after announcing the party's candidates for the polls at its main operations room at Baitul Tariq in Klebang here on Thursday (Oct 29).

Also present was Bersatu vice-president and Melaka Bersatu chief Datuk Mohd Radzi Md Jidin.

Commenting on the eight seats Bersatu will contest, Mohamed Azmin said the party saw potential to win all of them.

He said Bersatu was expected to face Pakatan Harapan candidates in four of the seats, namely Klebang (PKR); Gadek, Ayer Keroh and Pengkalan Batu (DAP).

However, he said the party would leave it to local voters to decide.

"In the context of elections, overlaps or clashes mean the parties involved will compete, but we take the stand that it is healthy competition in a democratic system.

"We will not practise gutter politics or slander. We will offer the party's policies. We are a party that cares for the people, and we will bring up economic issues, growth and job creation," he said.

Earlier at the event, Mohd Radzi announced that Bersatu would contest eight state seats — Lendu, Gadek, Sungai Udang, Pantai Kundor, Klebang, Pengkalan Batu, Ayer Keroh and Bemban.
