NIBONG TEBAL: Some 90,000 Form Six students nationwide will receive a RM2,500 living allowance next year, with payments to be made in the first semester of their studies, says Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek (pic).
The Education Minister said the allowance would be disbursed over three semesters, amounting to more than RM800 per semester for students enrolling in the 2027 academic session.
“Once registration for all Form Six students is completed, we will distribute the assistance in the first semester of their studies,” she told reporters after launching the Nibong Tebal parliamentary constituency- level “Jelajah Negaraku: Aku Kasih Malaysia” programme here yesterday.
Under Budget 2027, the Federal Government agreed to provide Form Six students with a RM2,500 living allowance, matching the amount given to matriculation students.
Fadhlina said the initiative was vital in giving greater support for Form Six students and improving the quality of the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) programme.
“We are happy with this Budget announcement because one of our aspirations is to ensure that Form Six students receive greater support in their learning.
“We hope the allowance will help improve the quality of STPM.”
