NIBONG TEBAL: Form Six students will begin receiving a RM2,500 allowance next year, with payments to be disbursed in the first semester of their studies, says Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek.
She said the assistance was intended for students enrolling for the 2027 academic session and would be distributed once their registration was completed.
"As soon as the registration of all Form Six students is completed, we will distribute the assistance in the first semester of their studies.
"Insya-Allah, they will start receiving the allowance in the first semester next year," she said.
Fadhlina welcomed the Budget announcement, describing the initiative as an important step towards providing greater support for Form Six students and improving the quality of the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) programme.
"We are very happy with this Budget announcement because one of our aspirations is to ensure that Form Six students receive greater support in their learning.
"We hope the allowance will help improve the quality of STPM," she said.
She said the RM2,500 allowance will be given across three semesters, translating to an average of more than RM800 per semester.
During the recent Budget 2027 announcement, the Federal Government agreed to provide a living allowance of RM2,500 to Form Six students.
The rate matches the allowance for matriculation students and will benefit 90,000 Form Six students nationwide.
