KOTA KINABALU: A senior Sabah Lands and Surveys Department official and a gold mining company executive pleaded not guilty at the Special Corruption Court here on Monday (Sept 28) to three graft charges involving RM18,000 in bribes.
Robert Robin Millip, 60, Chief Assistant Director of the department's Minerals Division (Contract), and Chong Tzu Khen, 60, Executive Director of Wullersdorf Resources Sdn Bhd, entered their pleas before Judge Andi Razalijaya A. Dadi.
Chong was charged under Section 17(b) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 for offering bribes, while Robert was charged under Section 17(a) for accepting them.
According to the charge sheets, Chong allegedly gave Robert cash loans totaling RM18,000 as an inducement to facilitate gold mining operations managed by Wullersdorf Resources.
The alleged transactions took place in Kota Kinabalu over three separate occasions: an initial RM10,000 at a restaurant in Taman Fortuna in April 2024, followed by RM3,000 in October 2024 and RM5,000 in October 2025 at local eateries.
Judge Andi Razalijaya granted each accused RM8,000 bail with one local surety. They were also ordered to surrender their international and restricted passports to the court, report to the nearest MACC office once a month, and refrain from contacting prosecution witnesses.
The court fixed Oct 27 for case management.
MACC Prosecuting Officer Norsham Saharom appeared for the prosecution, while defence counsel Datuk Ram Singh represented both accused.
