PADANG BESAR: Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil visited the Padang Besar Health Clinic in Perlis to observe the progress of the National Digital Health Ecosystem and Connectivity Driver (Persada) initiative.
The cross-ministerial collaboration between the Communications Ministry, through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Health Ministry (MOH) aims to strengthen service delivery, as well as more integrated digital and technological connectivity.
Fahmi was briefed on the implementation of the initiative and shown demonstrations of digital solutions supporting the national healthcare ecosystem, including the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and connectivity applications in healthcare service delivery.
Persada encompasses efforts to strengthen connectivity at health clinics and hospitals nationwide, support the implementation of EMR and explore the use of new technologies to expand access to healthcare services.
Through Persada, enhanced connectivity will support smoother sharing of health information and provide the foundation for the implementation of the “One Individual, One Health Record” aspiration.
Patients’ health records can support continuity of care when they seek services at different facilities or locations, creating a smoother and more organised treatment experience while helping to reduce waiting times. The majority of patients are also expected to receive treatment within less than an hour once the initiative is fully implemented.
In August, Persada received an allocation of RM1bil, including an additional RM350mil announced by the Government to strengthen connectivity, digital systems and supporting infrastructure for the country’s public healthcare network.
