SHAH ALAM: The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has launched the Simpan SSPN Savings Month (BMS) 2026 in conjunction with World Savings Day, which is celebrated annually on Oct 31.
The launch ceremony was officiated by PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim at Central i-City Mall here in Selangor.
The Simpan SSPN Savings Month (BMS) is PTPTN’s signature programme aimed at championing the habit of saving and promoting Simpan SSPN as the preferred savings product for Malaysians.
2026 marks the ninth year the event has been held since its inception in 2018.
The BMS 2026 programme runs from Sept 25 to Nov 1, with the national-level launch ceremony held on Sept 26.
Meanwhile, at the state level, the BMS 2026 celebration will take place at Mydin Bukit Mertajam, Penang, on Oct 3 and will be held simultaneously across the country at selected locations.
BMS 2026 features the theme "Under The Sea" and retains the tagline "Jom Jadi Superhero Anak Anda" (Be Your Child's Superhero).
A variety of engaging activities have been lined up for parents and children to participate in. These include a colouring contest, the Simpan SSPN Got Talent competition, a fancy dress competition, the Simpan SSPN Action Song competition, a "Happy Hour" session, the PTPTN E-Sports Challenge and many more.
Members of the public visiting the PTPTN counter also have the opportunity to receive exclusive BMS 2026 souvenirs by making a deposit into their Simpan SSPN accounts.
BMS 2026 is a savings empowerment initiative spearheaded by PTPTN. It aims to ensure that every parent becomes a "superhero" to their children by establishing a financial plan for higher education, thereby reducing the community's reliance on loans.
Norliza said,"Saving is not merely about setting money aside for future use. It is a form of preparation that provides families with greater options and flexibility in planning their children's educational journey.
“May BMS 2026 continue to serve as a platform that fosters a culture of saving and cultivates a responsible, financially literate Madani generation."
She added: “As of Aug 31, total Simpan SSPN deposits received amounted to RM25.86bil, with 7.66 million accounts opened.
“This performance demonstrates Simpan SSPN’s continued excellence as a premier savings product and reflects the unwavering support of depositors.
“For this year’s BMS, PTPTN has set a target of RM250mil in Simpan SSPN deposits,” she shared.
Simpan SSPN offers various privileges and benefits to Malaysians, such as income tax relief on savings of up to RM8,000 per year, free takaful coverage for depositors, a free matching grant of up to RM10,000 for eligible families, competitive dividend rates, Shariah compliance and government-guaranteed savings.
Various campaigns and promotions have also been intensified to foster a culture of saving, including the ‘Wow! Simpan SSPN 2026’ draw campaign.
