KUANTAN: Two motorcyclists died in separate crashes in Kuantan early Sunday (Sept 27).
Kuantan OCPD Asst Comm Ashari Abu Samah said the first incident, involving three motorcycles, occurred near the Kuantan Sentral Terminal at about 2.30am.
"A 24-year-old man riding a motorcycle from Jalan Sultan Abdullah towards Semambu lost control of his machine and crashed into two other motorcycles," he said in a statement.
The victim sustained severe head injuries and died at the scene, while the two other motorcyclists were taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) by bystanders.
In the second crash at 6.30am, a 23-year-old motorcyclist died on Jalan Kuantan-Kemaman near the Kampung Chendor Mosque.
Ashari said the victim, travelling from Cherating towards Kampung Geliga, crashed into a cow crossing the road.
"The impact threw the victim onto the road before he was run over by an unidentified vehicle. He sustained severe head injuries and died at the scene," he added.
Both bodies were sent to the HTAA Forensic Unit, with the cases being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Ashari urged witnesses or those with dashcam footage to contact the police to assist in the investigations. - Bernama
