Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast in seven states until 7pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has warned of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several states until 7pm on Sunday (Sept 27).

In a statement at 3.20pm, MetMalaysia said the states affected are Perak (Hulu Perak); Kelantan (Kuala Krai, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang and Pasir Puteh); Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Dungun, Kemaman, Marang and Hulu Terengganu); Pahang (Pekan, Rompin and Jerantut); and Johor (Kota Tinggi and Mersing).

It also warned of bad weather in Sarawak, affecting Kapit, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri, Limbang, Samarahan, Serian, Kuching and Sri Aman (Lubok Antu).

Meanwhile, affected areas in Sabah include the West Coast (Ranau, Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Belud, Penampang and Papar); Interior (Keningau, Tambunan, Pensiangan, Sook, Tenom, Sipitang, Beaufort and Membakut); Kudat (Kota Marudu) and Sandakan (Kinabatangan and Sandakan). – Bernama
