KUALA LUMPUR: Police will record statements from 10 Negri Sembilan state executive council members beginning Monday (Sept 28) as part of investigations into an issue involving customary laws and the state constitution.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the statements would be recorded in Negri Sembilan.
"This is to assist investigations based on police reports lodged previously," he said when contacted on Sunday (Sept 27).
The matter follows a police report lodged by Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra), which called for an investigation into Mentri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim and his state executive council line-up.
The 10 exco members are Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli, Datuk Zaifulbahri Idris, Datuk Mustapha Nagoor, Siow Kong Choon, Siti Nur Umaira Hasim, Datuk Mohd Asna Amin, Datuk Mohd Razi Mohd Ali, Suhaimizan Bizar, Mohd Fairuz Mohd Isa and Datuk Razali Abu Samah.

Putra secretary-general Nasrul Ali Hasan Abdul Latif said the party believed the matter warranted investigation under Section 121 of the Penal Code.
The controversy centres on customary laws in Negri Sembilan and the validity of the appointments of the 10 exco members under the state's legal provisions.
Attorney General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar was previously reported to have said that a gazette cancelling the appointments took effect on Sept 20, following an order by Negri Sembilan Ruler Tuanku Muhriz under Article 38(5) of the Negri Sembilan Constitution 1959.
The police investigation is ongoing.
