KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied reports that the 10 Negri Sembilan state executive councillors whose appointments were revoked have been called up by Bukit Aman over the ongoing state crisis.
The Barisan Nasional chairman said there was no need for the former exco members to be called up, but they would have no problem giving statements if required.
"That is not true, and there is no need for them to be called in," he told reporters after officiating at the 18th Malaysian Makkal Sakti Party General Assembly on Saturday (Sept 27).
"But if Bukit Aman wants to obtain their statements, there is certainly no problem for the current or former excos to provide their statements in Seremban or anywhere else in Negri Sembilan," he added.
Ahmad Zahid was responding to reports that the 10 Negri Sembilan exco members had been called up by Bukit Aman.
Photographs of the 10 exco members were removed from the official Negri Sembilan state government portal on Sept 25.
On Sept 20, the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, revoked the appointments of the 10 excos with immediate effect after they were found to have violated their oath of office.
The Negri Sembilan Palace said the excos had taken and signed an oath and pledge of allegiance before Tuanku Muhriz on Aug 7, prior to their appointment to the state executive council.
They had pledged allegiance to the Ruler and the Royal Institution, undertaken to protect and preserve the sovereignty of the state Constitution, and acknowledged the authority vested in the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang, the Palace said.
