PUTRAJAYA: The "H" series Special Registration Number (NPI) recorded a total collection of RM91.21mil through bids conducted by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) in conjunction with the 2026 Malaysia Day celebration.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the amount comprised RM89.27mil from the bids and RM1.94mil in service fees via the JPJeBid system, which ran from Sept 16 to 20.
"Overall, 34,664 bidders participated, with 8,223 registration numbers successfully bid on, showing an overwhelming response to the 'H' series NPI," he said in a statement on Monday (Sept 21).
Loke said the number H 1 recorded the highest bid at RM10.78mil, followed by H 9 (RM4.97mil), H 3 (RM4.21mil), H 5 (RM4.01mil), H 8 (RM4mil) and H 6 (RM3.38mil).
Meanwhile, H 1001 and H 100 recorded the highest participation with 37 bidders each, followed by H 1805 (36 bidders), and H 1777 and H 4818 (32 bidders each).
He said the success of the series not only reflected the high demand for special registration numbers but also proved the success of the government's digital transformation through the JPJeBid platform, which makes the bidding process easier, faster, more efficient and transparent.
"More significantly, the revenue generated through this initiative will be returned to the people through various Transport Ministry and JPJ programmes, including road safety initiatives that directly benefit the community," he said.
Loke also expressed his appreciation to JPJ personnel for their commitment in ensuring the NPI bidding process ran smoothly.
He added that the ministry and JPJ recorded their highest appreciation to all bidders and Malaysians for their extraordinary response to the series.
"The government will continue to intensify the digitalisation of services and introduce high-impact initiatives that not only strengthen delivery efficiency but also ensure national revenue translates into benefits for the people," he said.- Bernama
