23 areas record unhealthy API readings as of 10am this morning


PETALING JAYA: The Air Pollutant Index Management System shows that 22 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 10am on Sunday (Sept 19).

The highest reading was recorded at IPD Serian (182) in Sarawak, while seven areas in the state also recorded unhealthy API readings, namely Samarahan (169), Kuching (165), Sri Aman (162), Bintulu (154), Sibu (152), Samalaju (111) and Sarikei (108).

Five areas in Johor also recorded unhealthy API readings, with Larkin recording 161, Batu Pahat (155), Segamat and Tangkak at 154 each, followed by Pasir Gudang (153).

Meanwhile, Putrajaya and Nilai (Negeri Sembilan) each recorded a reading of 155, while Shah Alam, Selangor recorded 153, followed by Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (140) and Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (138).

Unhealthy API readings were also recorded at Bandaraya Melaka, Melaka (122), Bukit Rambai (121), Petaling Jaya, Selangor (107) and Johan Setia, Selangor (102).

Meanwhile, 39 areas recorded moderate readings, while five areas recorded good readings.

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 301 and above (hazardous).
