JERTIH: Two women were found dead of suspected electrocution at a fish rearing pond area in Pantai Air Tawar here on Sunday (Sept 13) afternoon.
Besut OCPD Supt Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahim added that they received a report at 1.40pm that the victims, 49 and 27, were found unconscious at the pond.
"The medical officer at the location pronounced both victims dead,” he said in a statement, adding that both bodies were sent to Besut Hospital’s forensics unit for autopsy.
The real cause of the incident is still being investigated and the case is being classified as sudden death, he said.
Meanwhile, Wan Muhammad Naim Wan Hussin, 28, the husband of one of the victims, Rubayyi Razali, 27, said he did not expect such a tragedy when he found both his wife and the pond owner Wan Adilah Wan Awang, 49, unconscious at the pond when he went to pick his wife up at 1pm.
His wife, a second-year Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) biodiversity degree student in Jengka, Pahang, was doing practical training at the pond since Aug 10 and was expected to finish on Oct 2.
"When I saw them both unconscious, I immediately sought the help of breeders nearby.
"I think they both might have been electrocuted as there was an electrical wire near the area and flowing pipe water,” he said, adding that they had two sons, aged two years and four months.- Bernama
