MELAKA: More focused monitoring of government projects, including 'sick' projects, is among the new priorities of the Melaka administration through the proposed establishment of the Melaka Coordination and Delivery Unit (MCDU), which is expected to be set up within a month.
Melaka State Secretary Datuk Salhah Salleh said the unit would coordinate, monitor and expedite the implementation of state government projects, as well as public-private partnership projects that require closer attention and monitoring.
"The unit does not solely involve the establishment of a new structure. Instead, it will take into account existing staffing and duties, which will be reorganised to enable more focused monitoring and coordination, especially of projects that may encounter problems," she said.
Speaking to reporters after delivering her speech at the State Secretary's Mandate and Meeting Session with Heads of State and Federal Departments here on Friday (Sept 11), Salhah also introduced the “Melaka” approach, which she said would serve as a guide and a new work culture for the state's public service.
The approach stands for Mesra (Friendly), Empati (Empathy), Laju (Fast), Akal (Intellect), Kerjasama (Cooperation) and Agile, reflecting the aspiration to improve the quality of public service delivery in the state.
"The newly introduced ‘Melaka’ approach gives Melaka's public service a new image, while serving as a guide and a new work culture for the state's public service," she said. – Bernama
