KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has urged the party’s Youth and Puteri wings to engage more closely with young people.
In his policy speech at the 2026 Umno General Assembly, Ahmad Zahid said the younger generation could bring fresh ideas to the party.
Playing on slang commonly used by Generation Z, he urged young people to “slay” with their ideas, “flex” them and show that they could bring home the W, or win.
“If you have slay ideas, do not keep them to yourselves, flex them. Let us see who can truly bring home the W (win).
“To the Youth and Puteri, reach out to them and engage with them respectfully. God willing, they will come to us,” he said in his president’s policy speech at the 2026 Umno General Assembly (AGM) on Friday (Sept 11).
His remarks came in line with the party’s Rumah Bangsa initiative, which he said was also intended to make younger generations feel that it was their “home”.
“It is a place where you can stand together with all your fathers and mothers and fight alongside us.
“Your fathers and mothers are opening the space as widely as possible for you to shape the canvas of Umno’s struggle.
“This is your home too. Come in, open its windows, rearrange its spaces, and colour the walls of its struggle with the ideas and dreams of your generation.
“All your fathers and mothers want is to ensure that this home remains a shelter for generations to come,” he said.
