PETALING JAYA: A police officer was killed after his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a lorry along Jalan Kebun, Klang on Wednesday (Sept 9).
The 41-year-old victim, who had served with the police force for 22 years, died at the scene following the 8.30pm crash.
Klang Selatan OCPD Asst Comm Lim Jit Huey said initial investigations found that the victim was riding from Jalan Kebun towards Rimbayu when the motorcycle he was riding allegedly grazed the tyre of a lorry travelling at the location.
“The victim was riding straight when his motorcycle is believed to have come into contact with the tyre of a lorry driven by a local man.
“The impact caused the victim to lose control of his motorcycle and fall onto the road,” he said in a statement on Friday (Sept 11).
The victim was a member of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at the Shah Alam district police headquarters.
ACP Lim said medical personnel confirmed the victim’s death at the scene.
The body was then sent to the forensic department of Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) for a post-mortem, which was conducted at 9am on Thursday (Sept 10).
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by dangerous or reckless driving.
Police have urged anyone with information or witnesses to the crash to come forward and assist investigations by contacting the Klang Selatan district police traffic investigation and enforcement division or any nearby police station.
ACP Lim also reminded all road users to prioritise safety, comply with traffic rules and regulations, and drive responsibly.
