PETALING JAYA: His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, led the messages of condolence pouring in for the five victims of the Sarawak helicopter crash.
Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia expressed their condolences to the families of the pilot and Health Ministry personnel who lost their lives in the crash, praying for the families of the victims to be given strength and fortitude in facing their loss.
“Condolences to all members of the victims’ families. Their services and sacrifices will always be remembered,” said the King and Queen through a post on the official Facebook page of Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government would provide all necessary assistance to the families of the five victims.
“My thoughts and prayers, as well as (my wife) Azizah’s, are with the families as they go through this extremely difficult time,” he said.
“May they find strength and resilience. I urge everyone to give the families space and refrain from speculation while awaiting verified information from the authorities,” he added.
The Prime Minister also spoke to the father of the chopper’s pilot, Kapten Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, noting that the pilot had flown him during the 15th General Election.
“Recalling the times Zainol Afiq flew me during the campaign deeply moved me. The loss is an immense and painful one to bear, especially for the family and the young children,” he said.
MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the Flying Doctor Service team serves communities in remote areas, bringing essential healthcare to those who need it most. Their dedication and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
“My deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the pilot and the four Health Ministry personnel who lost their lives in this heartbreaking tragedy.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families, colleagues and all those affected during this incredibly difficult time. May their families be granted strength and comfort during this difficult time,” he added.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the victims had made significant contributions while serving communities in challenging areas.
Fadillah said their commitment in ensuring rural communities received healthcare despite difficult conditions reflected their dedication.
“Their contributions and sacrifices are immense and will always be remembered,” he said.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also prayed for the families to receive strength, patience and resilience in coping with their loss.
“What is even more heartbreaking is that they died while carrying out their duties to provide healthcare services to communities in rural areas,” he said.
