KUANTAN: A total of 21 patients have been transferred to Hospital Jerantut and Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (HoSHAS), Temerloh, after a fire in the paediatric ward and women's ward of Hospital Jengka on Wednesday (Sept 9) night.
The Pahang Health Department said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 10) that 10 women patients and three child patients were transferred to Hospital Jerantut, while eight children were sent to HoSHAS to continue treatment.
"The department has taken appropriate action to ensure the safety of patients, relatives and staff as well as the continuity of health services are not affected and the public is requested not to make any speculation regarding this incident," the statement read.

It said the fire that occurred at around 7pm is believed to have started on the roof of the Paediatric Ward, but the exact cause of the incident is still under investigation by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
No injuries or deaths were reported in the incident, while the fire was brought under control by Bomba.
"During the incident, the wards housed 11 child patients with 11 relatives, as well as 10 women patients," the statement read.
On Wednesday, Maran OCPD Supt Wong Kim Wai announced that part of the ceiling of the Children's Ward and Women's Ward had caught fire. – Bernama
