KUCHING: Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi have expressed their condolences and deepest sympathy to the families of the five people killed in a helicopter crash in Long Lellang.
Wan Junaidi said he was greatly saddened by the news of the crash on Tuesday (Sept 8), which claimed the lives of the pilot and four Health Ministry personnel on a Flying Doctor Service flight.
"Their loss will be deeply felt, even more so as four of the victims were health personnel carrying out their duties to bring health services to remote communities in Sarawak.
"Their work through the Flying Doctor Service is invaluable to the people of Sarawak, particularly remote communities who depend on the service to receive treatment and healthcare.
"Their sacrifice and dedication will always be remembered," Wan Junaidi said in a statement on Tuesday night.
He also extended prayers that the victims' families would be granted strength, fortitude and patience in their bereavement.
In addition, Wan Junaidi expressed appreciation to security, Fire and Rescue Department and health personnel, authorities and the local community involved in operations at the crash site.
"Condolences to the victims' families. Sarawak mourns the loss of five individuals who gave their service to the people," he said.
