KOTA KINABALU: The National Consumer Foundation Malaysia (YPNM) Sabah chapter has renewed its call for the federal government to raise the monthly subsidised RON95 fuel quota from 200 litres to 300 litres per eligible consumer.
In a statement on Saturday (Aug 29), YPNM Sabah chairman David Chan urged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to review the existing ceiling.
"Any subsidy mechanism should remain flexible and responsive to the genuine needs of the people," Chan said.
He urged the government to evaluate actual ground-consumption patterns following months of implementation.
Chan insisted the additional expenditure should be viewed as an economic stimulus rather than a mere cost.
He urged the federal government to conduct a data-driven review and implement robust monitoring mechanisms.
