KUALA LUMPUR: The wife of a Fire and Rescue Department Special Air Unit officer, who was reported missing following the devastating floods in Nepal, has gone to a hospital at the disaster site to help identify the bodies recovered from the scene.
In a Facebook story, Hani Othman said she hoped none of the bodies would be her husband or members of his group.
"I hope I don't find one of them here," she wrote.
Hani's husband, Fire and Rescue Department Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Fakhrul Munir Mohd Isa, better known as Loe, was reported missing during a climbing expedition in Nepal.
He was among a group of 10 Malaysians known as ‘Team Loe’ who have been uncontactable since floods struck Nepal's Rasuwa district. The group is believed to have been in a valley when the floodwaters hit.
Fire and Rescue Operations Division deputy director Mohd Sani Harul was also reported missing during the same expedition.
"At the same time, Loe’s Nepalese friends have tried to distribute pictures of the team to the soldiers at the scene in an effort to find them," Hani added.
She travelled to Nepal alone to obtain updates on efforts to locate those reported missing, saying she did not want to stay at home.
