PETALING JAYA: The families of the four people found dead at a condominium in Desa ParkCity were aware that the victims were caught up in a love scam and had become involved in an illegal investment scheme, police said.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said, however, that the matter was still under investigation.
“The family members were aware of the love scam issue and that the victims had been caught up in an illegal investment,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 29).
Meanwhile, post-mortems on three of the four victims found dead at the condominium in Desa ParkCity, Kepong, on Thursday (Aug 27) have been completed, with all three found to have suffered injuries caused by sharp weapons.
Comm Fadil said the first post-mortem, involving the couple’s daughter, was conducted on Friday (Aug 28) from 9am to noon.
He said the examination found that she died from a stab wound to the neck.
The second post-mortem, involving the suspect’s wife, was conducted the same day from about 2pm to 7.30pm.
“The examination found that the victim died from sharp-force injuries to the neck and chest.
“Meanwhile, the post-mortem on the third victim, the couple’s son, was conducted from 2pm to 5pm also on the same day. The child was also found to have died from a stab wound to the neck,” he said.
In a related development, the post-mortem on the suspect, who was the victim’s father and husband, is scheduled to be conducted on Saturday at 2pm after the scene examination is completed.
“The four bodies have yet to be claimed and will only be claimed after the post-mortem on the suspect (father) is completed," he said.
Earlier, media reports said the 48-year-old man died after falling from the condominium, while his 47-year-old wife and their two children were found dead inside the family’s unit.
Police received a report at 3.32pm on Thursday (Aug 27) and, with the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Department, entered the unit where they found the woman and her two children, a nine-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy, dead in separate rooms.
On Friday (Aug 28), police said the deaths of the four family members were believed to be linked to a love scam that had resulted in losses and debts amounting to RM260,000.
Initial investigations also found that the suspect had allegedly left a note on the dining table before the incident.
According to Comm Fadil, the note expressed the suspect’s regret towards his wife, who he alleged was still attempting to contact the individual believed to be the scammer.
