KUALA LUMPUR: A love scam that allegedly left a family saddled with a RM260,000 debt is identified as the motive for a man to kill his wife and children before taking his own life.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said police discovered a note left by the 48-year-old man before he took his own life, stating that he regretted his wife’s involvement with a love scammer.
The said the romance had led to losses of around RM260,000 for the suspect.
“The wife was said to have had continually attempted to contact the scammer, and the suspect felt her actions had gone too far, causing him shame in front of their children.
“A knife and a pair of gloves, believed to have been used in the killings, were found inside a drawer in the master bedroom,” he said in a statement.
Regarding the post-mortem, Comm Fadil said that the pathologists had finished examining three bodies yesterday.
“The post-mortem examination on the suspect’s body is expected to be conducted (today), after the Kuala Lumpur Hospital forensic team visits the scene.”
Comm Fadil added that the post-mortem examination also found a 5cm stab wound on the body of the suspect’s nine-year-old daughter.
He said the suspect’s 47-year-old wife and their two children including a seven-year-old son were found dead in a condominium in Desa ParkCity, Kepong on Thursday.
Comm Fadil said that all three victims had severe injuries to their necks.
