Anwar impressed by spirit, courage of young Sukma athletes

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hopes the young athletes competing in the 2026 Selangor Malaysia Games (Sukma) will go on to represent Malaysia on the international stage.

In a Facebook post Thursday (Aug 20) night, the Prime Minister said he was impressed by the spirit, discipline and courage displayed by the young athletes when he had the opportunity to meet them and watch the Muay Thai events.

"Hopefully, they will one day have the opportunity to represent Malaysia and make the country proud on the international stage," he said.

Selangor is hosting the biennial games again after 28 years, with more than 5,000 young athletes from across the country competing for 468 gold medals in 37 sports until Aug 24. - Bernama
