Kelantan Sukma official dies of heart attack

SHAH ALAM: A Kelantan Sukma team official died after suffering a heart attack following a road accident in Sungai Besar, Sabak Bernam, on Friday (Aug 14).

Sabak Bernam OCPD Supt Md Yusof Ahmad said police received a call about a local man who was found unconscious after the vehicle he was driving veered off the road near Tongkang 10, Sungai Besar, at about 7.35pm.

"Investigations revealed that the 49-year-old victim worked as a public service driver with the Kota Baru Irrigation and Drainage Department.

"The victim was in Sungai Besar to transport the Kelantan Sukma athletes to a chess competition in the district," he said in a statement on Saturday, adding that investigations found no criminal element in the incident.

Md Yusof said a post-mortem examination determined the cause of death as ischaemic heart disease, and the case was classified as sudden death.

Meanwhile, Sukma Selangor said in an Instagram post that the late Syahizad Mohd Zahari was an official with the Kelantan State Sports Council who died while en route to pick up chess athletes in Sabak Bernam. - Bernama
