PKR National Congress: Govt must better explain policy impact to households, says Fahmi

AYER KEROH: PKR admits it needs to improve how it communicates the government’s achievements and policies to the people, says Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.

The PKR Information chief said this was particularly important as many of the government’s achievements had yet to translate into tangible benefits felt at the household level.

He said there had been many criticisms and issues that needed to be reflected upon and addressed to strengthen the party’s work, including improving its machinery and adjusting its communication and information dissemination strategies.

“Similar to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, other leaders and I are also taking a humble approach, listening and making changes, starting with ourselves.

“This is important because we have heard many people say that many of the government’s achievements, particularly in terms of macroeconomic matters, may not yet have translated into tangible benefits or been felt at the household level.

“So, this is one of the key messages for me as Communications Minister, and in my capacity as the Information chief and Pakatan Harapan Communications director," he said during a doorstep interview at the 2026 PKR National Congress on Saturday (Aug 15).

Earlier, Anwar, in his policy speech at the congress, acknowledged the government’s shortcomings in effectively communicating its efforts and the changes it had implemented to the people.

Anwar said good economic figures alone were not enough if Putrajaya failed to win the hearts of the people.
