A GOLDEN retriever in Guangdong, China, won praise for its thoughtfulness after it was caught on camera covering a pile of drying corn with a waterproof sheet just before a heavy storm, Sin Chew Daily reported.
The incident took place on the morning of July 7 just as dark clouds loomed over a courtyard.
Seemingly sensing the change in weather, CCTV footage shows the canine hurrying over to a nearby waterproof sheet, grabbing a corner with its muzzle and dragging it over a pile of corn left to dry in the sun.
The dog even adjusts the edges of the sheet to ensure all the corn is fully covered.
Just moments later, rain begins pouring down.
The footage then shows the dog running out into the rain to greet its owners upon their return.
“Who covered the corn for us?” the man is heard saying as he runs into the house.
After the footage was posted online, Internet users were amazed at how clever the dog was.
They urged the owners to reward their pet for the effort.
Many speculated that the pup had likely learned the task by watching its owners perform it themselves.
“What an incredible dog,” one netizen wrote.

In 2022, he won Best Actor award at the Hong Kong Film Awards for his role in the comedy Time, becoming the oldest recipient of the honour.
He came out of retirement to star in the film, in which he played a retired contract killer.
