IPOH: A 51-year-old man has been charged at the Magistrate's Court here with murdering a 28-year-old man at a care centre earlier this month.
Soo Kim Keong nodded when the charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code was read to him before Magistrate Norizan Riduan on Wednesday (Sept 30).
No plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
According to the charge sheet, Soong is accused of murdering Chong Mun Long at about 3pm on Sept 3 at a care centre at Chemor, Tanjung Rambutan.
Deputy public prosecutor S. Kirthana requested that the accused be sent to the hospital to obtain a psychiatric report given his unstable mental state.
The magistrate then ordered the accused to undergo psychiatric evaluation at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta.
The court set Oct 30 for the submission of the psychiatric report.
