COMEDIAN Shahrol Shiro has urged the public to stop speculating that his appointment as a part-time instructor for a Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Citra course was politically linked.
Shahrol, whose real name is Shahrol Azizie Azmi, 42, said his appointment had nothing to do with any politician, Berita Harian reported.
He said the appointment came about after a meeting last year with UKM deputy vice-chancellor (student and alumni affairs) Prof Dr Norinsan Kamil Othman, during which they discussed the university’s Citra courses and the possibility of introducing a comedy course.
Shahrol said the combination of academic knowledge and industry experience could benefit students.
UKM’s Corporate Communications Centre said in a statement that Shahrol was appointed as a part-time instructor at the Faculty of Citra Studies to teach practical aspects of the Citra University course in acting, specialising in stand-up comedy.
