PETALING JAYA: Melaka Barisan Nasional aims to defend all 21 state seats, says its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said this after attending the Rural and Regional Development Ministry’s monthly assembly in Putrajaya on Thursday (Aug 6).
On Aug 3, Melaka Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh indicated that all 21 incumbent assemblymen remain on course to defend their seats.
Ab Rauf, who is also the Melaka Chief Minister, said he was pleased with the performance of the coalition's elected representatives over the past five years, describing all of them as having exceeded expectations.
The term of the Melaka state assembly expires in December. By law, the election must be conducted within 60 days of the assembly’s dissolution.
