SHAH ALAM: Two men were caught red-handed as they loaded sacks of illicit drugs into vehicles in Sungai Buloh, leading to a massive RM20.74mil narcotics bust.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan (pic) said the suspects were arrested on July 29 along Jalan Kuala Selangor at Batu 22 during a targeted operation codenamed Ops Kalidasa.

“A police team intercepted both suspects while they were loading sacks containing suspected drugs into two cars parked in the area. A search yielded 21 sacks of suspected methamphetamine weighing approximately 409.9kg,” Comm Hussein told a press conference at the Selangor police contingent headquarters on Tuesday (Aug 4).

A follow-up raid on a house in Taman Putra Damai resulted in the seizure of an additional 900 vape cartridges believed to contain liquid MDMA, weighing roughly 1.8kg.

Investigations revealed the suspects had been operating as transporters for an established drug syndicate since January this year. Check records also showed that one of the suspects has two prior criminal cases.

Both suspects have been remanded until August 5 to facilitate further investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
