SEREMBAN: Barisan Nasional's Temiang candidate Datuk Leaw Kok Chan has pledged to serve the people there with greater commitment and hard work.
Leaw said the campaign was over but his dedication to the area would not stop.
Leaw lost Temiang to Pakatan Harapan's Yeo Tung Siong by 1,883 votes, polling 3,366 in Saturday's Negri Sembilan election.
"Elections have an end, but service and dedication will never end.
"In future, I will continue to serve the people of this area with diligence and commitment," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Aug 2).
He said his heart was full of gratitude even though he had not won this time.
He thanked the supporters who had stood by him, saying every word of encouragement and every vote had meant a great deal during the campaign.
Leaw said contesting the election had been a meaningful experience that changed him.
Through meeting residents, he had come to understand their needs better and had seen his own strengths and weaknesses more clearly.
He said the result was disappointing, but his original commitment had not changed.
Leaw again thanked residents for their support throughout the campaign.
