WHEN MR DIY first opened its doors in 2005, it was a humble hardware shop along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.
It has since grown into a retail giant. In a span of 20 years, it has more than 1,500 stores nationwide, a flagship 30,000 sq ft MR DIY Plus outlet, a listing on Bursa Malaysia, and an expanding international presence stretching from Singapore to Spain.
Adding another chapter to its journey, the company recently introduced MR DIY Club – its very first loyalty programme.
“For over 20 years, Malaysians have trusted us to be there for their everyday needs, whether it is a quick fix around the house or restocking household essentials. We have never taken that trust for granted,” said MR DIY Marketing senior vice president, Alex Goh.
“Our 'Always Low Prices' commitment is the heart of what has kept us here as we continue to build the relationship with Malaysians by listening and truly understanding them,” he shared.
MR DIY Club, a family-focused loyalty initiative is designed to make everyday purchases more rewarding while allowing loved ones to share the benefits together.
Goh pointed out that many of MR DIY's customers shop as families, which inspired the company to create a programme that rewards not just individual shoppers, but entire households.
He added that MR DIY Club enables families to earn points together, enjoy greater value and share experiences beyond the checkout counter.
“It is our way to thank our customers for growing with us, and giving them even more reasons to return,” said Goh.
A big start
The grand launch, held at MyTOWN Shopping Centre in Cheras, brought a lively, fun-fair atmosphere as crowds gathered to take part in interactive games and collect reward points.
Among the special guests were actors Shaheizy Sam and Syatilla Melvin – more popularly known as SamTilla – the brand ambassadors for MR DIY Club.
“MR DIY Club is built around the everyday Malaysian household, making the SamTilla family a natural fit for the programme and the values it represents,” Goh explained.

The launch also saw the presence of many content creators including Carol Loh, her sister Cayee and their father Uncle Lorento, who shared their excitement about the new loyalty programme.
“We have been going to MR DIY since our childhood days,” Carol shared, adding that they have always appreciated the convenience of being able to find almost anything they need, from household items and stationery to toys, car accessories and electrical items.
“We usually shop at MR DIY as a family so these perks will be really beneficial,” Cayee added.
For Uncle Lorento, the programme offers another way for families like his to stretch their spending.
“Shopping at MR DIY has always been so affordable, and with this, the savings are even bigger,” he noted.
Rewards galore
MR DIY Club is built around one simple idea: making everyday shopping more rewarding for the whole family.
Through its Family Account feature, up to five family members can pool their points under a single account, helping them earn rewards faster.
Members can also collect one point for every RM1 spent, which can later be exchanged for cash vouchers, while new members get a head start with 400 welcome points.

Birthday months also come with extra perks, as members enjoy five times the usual points on their purchases.
Beyond points, every RM20 spent earns club members a “Bag”, which can be redeemed for access to money-can't-buy experiences such as cooking classes, yoga classes and art workshops, offering members something a little different alongside their everyday purchases.
