SERDANG: Several individuals have been detained after a 16-year-old student and his father were assaulted in front of a secondary school in Seri Kembangan.
Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the incident occurred at about 12.45pm on July 3 when the student was walking towards his motorcycle outside the school.
“He was called over by several students from the same school before being surrounded and assaulted by them.
“The victim suffered cuts to his lip and knee as well as bruises all over his body.
“His father, who attempted to stop the fight, was also assaulted and fell onto the road.
“He sustained injuries to his hands and legs,” he said in a statement.
Several students have been detained and will be remanded, Muhamad Farid added.
He said police are working closely with the school and parents to ensure the incident is handled professionally and in accordance with the law.
“We urge the public not to speculate on the case as it could interfere with police investigations.

Selangor Education Department said firm action will be taken against anyone found guilty in the recent fight involving a group of students that went viral.
The department said it is treating the incident seriously and noted that the case is currently under police investigation.
“We are extending full cooperation to the authorities.
“We do not tolerate any form of violent misconduct involving members of the school community.
“Counselling and guidance interventions are being provided to the students involved,” it said.
The department also urged the public to refrain from speculating or sharing unverified information about the incident.
