Sabah targets inclusive economic growth via Visit Sabah Year 2027

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan announces targeted promotional support and market access for local businesses ahead of Visit Sabah Year 2027.

“Visit Sabah Year 2027 will not only focus on increasing tourist arrivals, but also stimulate inclusive economic growth, particularly for small and medium enterprises, tourism industry players, community tourism operators and local entrepreneurs throughout Sabah,” he said.

He made the remarks during a Sabah Legislative Assembly question-and-answer session on Wednesday (July 22) in response to Samuel Wong Tshun Chuen.

Nizam said the ministry is developing an approach to strengthen the tourism value chain, covering accommodation, transportation, food, handicrafts, and community-based products.

He also said that Industry engagement sessions are underway to gather feedback and plan activities for the event.
