Federal partnership key to Sarawak's progress, says Anwar

PETALING JAYA: Strong cooperation between the Federal and Sarawak governments has been instrumental in driving the state's transformation and must continue to be strengthened for sustained growth and prosperity, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic).

In his Sarawak Day message on Wednesday (July 22), the Prime Minister said the close partnership had reinforced Sarawak's position as a leader in economic growth, innovation and inclusive development.

He said every initiative undertaken by both governments was driven by a shared commitment to uplift the people's livelihoods, strengthen the economy and deliver lasting well-being.

"The transformation taking shape in Sarawak today is the result of our collective efforts and this cooperation must continue to be strengthened for the benefit of the people," he wrote in a Facebook post.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the spirit of Sarawak Maju Segulai Sejalai (Moving Forward Together) would continue to guide efforts to strengthen unity, accelerate development and build a more prosperous future for both Sarawak and Malaysia.

"With this spirit, we will continue to move forward together to strengthen unity, accelerate development and build a more prosperous future for Sarawak and Malaysia.

"Happy Sarawak Day to all Sarawakians," he said.

Anwar also expressed hope that the Land of the Hornbills would continue to chart greater success, foster prosperity and remain a source of pride for the nation while creating a brighter future for all Malaysians.

Sarawak Day commemorates the state's attainment of self-government from the British on July 22, 1963, ahead of Malaysia's formation on Sept 16 the same year.
